  1. I loved this transformation. We hear the saying, "Change our surroundings if you need a new experience." I think of this when I see these things. Hope and Wade were able to change the atmosphere in the classroom to engage students in a dynamic way. I do feel like strong classroom management is key when making such a large transformation as they did. I do follow them on YouTube and other social media platforms, and love it.

  2. I love their enthusiasm for teaching and for the kids. It was amazing to see the kids excitement and all of the props and their transformation of the classroom. Watching this vlog definitely gives me an excitement for different ways to teach concepts using a more hands-on approach. I do believe it is important to connect with other educators through digital media, as well as, in person. As I was watching this episode, it did ignite a desire and a hope that we would be watching more of their vlogs as we go through the book.

  3. Wade and Hope King’s vlog is called Set The Stage To Engage. What did you like best about their first episode?
What I liked best about their first episode is the dedication that they have to to make learning fun for their students! It was fun to see the excitement that students had when walking into the classroom seeing the theme!

How did watching this vlog make your feel?
Watching the vlog made me feel excited and some motivation to create new learning experiences for my students.
Why is it important to connect with other educators through digital media such as YouTube, Twitter, etc?
I think it’s important to connect with other educators through digital media because we can learn from others and we don’t need to reinvent the wheel. We all have ideas to share and why not share them with others!

  4. I really liked the creativity of the room decoration, but it seemed very performative. I did like the reflection that they did and saw what was working. This may work well with certain groups of students, but I can also see the logistical nightmare of storing, finding all these props, and a fast track to burning yourself out. Now if this is what fills your cup more power to you, but I prefer smaller gestures that can be just as meaningful without pressure to redo your decor for every little thing. I do think it is important to find a core group of educators whether in person or online that share your ideals and as a way to find more inspiration in the classroom. I will not be subscribing as I just am not a vlog kind of fan.

  5. I loved how relatable Wade and Hope are. They are honest. When Hope said, "I don't like Vlogging." It made me laugh. Their enthusiasm for teaching showed and the clips of the students being excited proved that it transferred to the students. I felt excited about the classroom transformation but also overwhelmed. It would take A LOT of time and trips to the store to create that transformation and you need a place to store the props for the next use. I want to be a student in that room. I loved the Toy Story music playing as well! It is very important to connect with educators through digital media. In a world where we can share our highs and lows in an instant, why not make a connection with someone who could learn from you and you could learn from them? Knowledge is power and it's so easy to share and gain knowledge using media platforms. In my early teaching career I could only reach out to those next door or in my telephone contacts. Now there is so much information at the click of a button. Use it! I do not subscribe to YouTube channels but I will look up their channel to get ideas and be inspired.

  6. I loved watching this! It was neat to seem them do a room transformation that they hadn't done before. I kept wondering where they store all they stuff when they're done with it! ha ha I LOVED seeing the kids excitement when they walked into the room! That right there would make it all worth it! It was neat seeing them do their first vlog. It just shows how you can't be afraid to jump in even when you're not comfortable doing so. Connecting with other educators is important so you can get ideas like these room transformations to try. After reading the book and seeing this video, my head is swirling with things to try! I would definitely keep watching them. In fact I already started following Hope on FB and Instagram after reading a couple of chapters in the book!

  7. I enjoyed watching them work together to make the transformation of their classroom. Watching this vlog helped me understand how to use different concepts to be able to teach the contents. Today our students use many different digital media such as Youtube and twitter. I believe if we can draw these media into our classroom it will help us engage our students into the contents we are teaching. Also if we share our ideas we use in our classroom to other educators over digital media then we do not have to reinvent the wheel but tweak them to fit in our classroom. I will love to continue to watching other episodes of Wade and Hope so I can get more information to use in my classroom.

  8. I really enjoyed watching this YouTube video of Hope and Wade. In the video, I could really see how passionate they both were within their teaching careers. The excitement the kiddos showed with what they were learning made me so happy! This video makes me eager to get back to the classroom in the future and try these fun setups in my own space. I feel that it’s important to connect with other educators through social media because sharing ideas, successes, failures, growth mindsets, etc. can truly benefit one another. While I taught, I followed lots of educators on TikTok and Instagram. I gained a ton of different ideas I got to implement in my own classroom and learned how some ideas work and some do not. One thing I was very grateful for during my teaching career was being able to have a mentor teacher meet with me as much as I needed to bounce ideas off one another to make sure I felt confident in my teaching as well as keeping students engaged. Hope and Wade seem like a great couple to continue to watch to gather ideas and maybe one day implement some of their teachings in my classroom, so I would subscribe to their page.

  9. Their joy was obvious as was their enjoyment of working together on this endeavor. I think that partnership is key to success and to keep yourself from burning out or becoming overwhelmed. I like how when asked, do your students love Toy Story, or how did you decided on the theme? The response indicated that they love "anything Disney" so if they are having fun, the students will have fun. I respect that and try to do the same in my classroom. It is helpful to see how other teachers prepare, especially for the "behind the scenes" processes that take so much time.

  10. I loved their passion and excitement for teaching in this video. It is great that they have the same passion and can bounce ideas off each other. Also, to help each other reach their teaching goals. I liked seeing that they balance their passion for teaching with other things too.

  11. What I liked best about Wade and Hope King’s vlog, Set The Stage To Engage, was the realness of their approach.
Watching this vlog made me feel confident in my abilities and reminded me not to question the time it takes to do meaningful, impactful work in the classroom.
Connecting with other educators through digital media like YouTube or Twitter is important because it allows us to share ideas, learn from one another, and build a professional community beyond our own schools. I plan to subscribe to their channel and continue watching future episodes to keep learning and gaining inspiration for my teaching practice.

  12. What I liked best about Wade and Hope's first vlog was how clearly they emphasized the energy we bring into the classroom and the impact it has on student engagement. Watching their vlog made me feel re-energized and reminded me of the importance of presence and positivity in the work I do with students. As emphasized, our energy impacts our students, along with our space, how we present content, etc. Connecting with other educators through digital media is important and it allows us to share strategies, gain inspiration, and learn new approaches we might not encounter in our own schools or have otherwise considered. It’s a way to learn new ideas, learn from our own mistakes as well as others, and to make improvements in what we do for our students. I liked the creativity and excitement that was shared. I do plan to subscribe to their YouTube channel and continue watching. I appreciated the insight shared and feel like the ideas are directly applicable to my counseling sessions and classroom lessons.

  13. The idea I liked best about Wade and Hope's first episode was that they are a total team in making their idea come to life. I loved the creativity behind the episode and that they showed how they did the before, during and after. I also appreciated that they showed a little of their personal life as well to show that they do in fact have a life outside of the classroom. Watching this vlog made me feel inspired. I feel that it is important to connect with other educators through digital media such as YouTube, Twitter, etc. to learn from or share with, why reinvent the wheel if someone else can help give away some tips and tricks? I likely will not subscribe to their YouTube channel but may continue to watch other episodes of Set The Stage To Engage. Thank you for assigning this vlog to watch, it was good.

  14. This was fun to watch! Some of the things that stood out to me were their passion for their students and teaching, their joy in working together, and their honesty. I would have loved being a student in their class! What an amazing way to engage students and help them see how fun learning can be. Connecting with other educators through digital media can be helpful for sharing ideas. Teaching forms a community, and using these types of platforms is a great way to encourage, share, and lift other teachers up. It would be enjoyable to continue watching their vlogs.

  15. I love the energy and enthusiasm that Hope and Wade bring to their classroom with their Toy Story theme. I love how they have each other to collaborate and bounce ideas off of each other. What student wouldn't want to be in their class? Their vlogs are great ways to spread inspiration to other educators. Their energy and enthusiasm are infectious, and it motivates me to start thinking about different themes that i can start preparing for next school year. Each year our entire school has a theme for the school year and it would be fun to incorporate that theme into many of our lessons throughout the year.

  16. I enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm that Wade and Hope have for their room transformation. It was great to see how excited the kids were when they walked into the room. If I'm being honest, watching them do the room transformation makes me think I would never have time to do this even once, let alone several times throughout the year. I also wonder where they have space to store their transformation pieces to use them the following year. I will not likely subscribe to their YouTube channel, as I don't really enjoy watching vidoes on a regular basis, but I might look up other episodes.

  17. These are some REALLY upbeat and positive people! They must live in a place that not winter. I have transformed a classroom once. It was exciting and inviting. I am not trying to put up any barriers, but for most of my teaching career they were already there. One huge one is/was TIME. I taught for over a decade with out any planning time. No time, or energy. I was a coach my entire career, and alot of was volunteer so I could be involved in my own children's lives. When I read the book I wondered if these people had children and I naturally assumed not. My mother was an elementary teacher and she was transforming way back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. I saw it modeled my entire life and actually got to participate in it as an elementary student. Most likely I will not subscibe.

  18. I liked that the Kings showed what a room transformation looks like for them from start to finish in their first episode. They have a passion for the way in which they hook the students into the lessons. I wish they would have showed us some of the activities that they actually did with the students. I felt overwhelmed watching the video. How do you find the time, resources and money to do what they do? I think connecting with other educators online is great in that you get fresh ideas, new perspectives and can spark great conversations. No, I don’t think I’ll follow them at this point. As much as I appreciated seeing the example, I’m not a big vlog fan.
